BAIL Unveils Three EV Brands, Commercial Launch Expected Within Three Months
Bangladesh Auto Industries Limited (BAIL) has taken a significant step toward developing the country’s electric vehicle sector by unveiling three new EV brands. The brands include ‘MEV’ for four-wheeler passenger and cargo vehicles, ‘Glider’ for electric motorcycles, and ‘Automax’ for three-wheelers.
The prototype models were showcased at the “Dhaka Auto Series 2026” held at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka. The exhibition attracted considerable attention, particularly toward locally manufactured electric vehicles.
According to the company, commercial sales of these vehicles are expected to begin within the next three months. Pre-booking is also likely to be introduced soon.
BAiL has already established an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the Mirsarai Economic Zone with an investment of প্রায় BDT 1,500 crore. The facility aims to produce key components such as vehicle bodies, batteries, and motors locally, reducing reliance on imports.
Managing Director Mir Masud Kabir stated that the company is focused on delivering quality products at affordable prices while ensuring reliable customer service. He also emphasized the goal of building a complete EV ecosystem in Bangladesh.
Some models under the Glider and Automax brands feature removable battery technology, which is expected to make charging more convenient for users. The company claims that these vehicles will significantly reduce fuel and maintenance costs.
To build customer confidence, BAiL is offering a five-year warranty along with after-sales services for its vehicles. The company also expects supportive policies in the upcoming national budget, which could help lower production costs and make EVs more accessible.
Industry analysts believe that the growth of the EV sector in Bangladesh comes at a crucial time, driven by rising fuel costs and increasing demand for environmentally friendly transportation.
